Reading Update 5-26
Well, we only have a few days left of school! This will be my last reading blog entry for the school year.
We just finished our genre projects and shared them today in class. Some will also have to share tomorrow. They turned out fabulous! Your kids really have come a long way with their craft of writing. Ask you child to share their projects with you.
Reading notebooks will be sent home tomorrow to stay along with writing binders. We are also creating portfolios in class with papers that show what kids liked and/or learned across all subject areas. Ask your child to see that too-it should make a nice keepsake from fifth grade. :)
Reading Counts goals are due by this Friday at 8 am. I keep reminding kids every day.
Thanks for all of your continued support this year! If you have any feedback you would like to share regarding reading this year, please feel free to email me. I would love to hear what you have to say.

Reading Update 5-7
*Reading Counts reports went home Tuesday with the kids. I am leaving them on their own this quarter to reach the goals they set for themselves. Please ask your child about it. Points are due by May 29th.
*All of our testing is over!! The students were such hard-workers during all of this and I am very proud of each and everyone of them. They definitely persevered through.
*We started a genre study project in Reading class. Students were able to choose fiction or non-fiction in the same genre such as traditional literature, biographies, realistic fiction, informational, etc. They then were able to choose two stories within that genre to read and they will write some pieces based on these stories. It should be interesting!
*We are currently using Bonus Bucks in class as an incentive for hard work and positive behavior so ask your child about it.
*Thanks for your continued support.

Reading Update 4-30-Plays, Projects, and more!
This past week, we practiced and performed some plays. I picked four different plays- one for reading, social studies, math, and science. See the posters advertising the plays below.
Students went through the process of getting a part, learning a scripts, creating props, having a dress rehearsal and then finally a performance! See the links below to watch any of the plays.
*Biography Projects went home yesterday, please ask your child to see his/her. They turned out beautiful!! We shared them in class and had some treats last Friday.
*Reading Counts Points due by May 27
*Logs are due each Monday. They are two entries of 6-8 sentences each and should be done online on our Google Classroom.
